This website was established in 2003 at the behest of Sir John Templeton in order to increase the strategic impact of the Gifford program. Managed by Templeton Press through May 2021 (with assistance from Dr. Christopher R. Brewer 2014–18), the website is now managed by Dr. Brewer (Web Content Manager) and Rachel Brewer (Communications Manager) with a grant from Templeton Religion Trust.

Templeton Religion Trust (TRT) is a global charitable trust chartered by Sir John Templeton in 1984, with headquarters in The Bahamas. TRT has been active since 2021 and supports projects as well as storytelling related to projects seeking to enrich the conversation about religion.
