The School of Divinity, University of St Andrews is pleased to announce the appointment of Euan Grant to the post-doctoral Gifford Fellowship. The Gifford Fellowship, funded alongside the Gifford Lectures from the bequest of Adam Lord Gifford (1820–1887), exists to "promote and diffuse the study of natural theology in the widest sense of the term—in other words, the knowledge of God." It is awarded every two years to an outstanding emerging scholar working in a relevant area of theology or philosophy, and hosted alternately by the School of Divinity and the Department of Philosophy.
Mr Grant is close to completing his PhD in systematic theology at the University of St Andrews. He holds a BA in Theology from Oxford and an MLitt in Systematic and Historical Theology from St Andrews. His research focuses on theological anthropology, particularly questions of sin, human finitude, and transcendence. Outside his research and teaching, he has acted as Postgraduate Academic Convenor of the St Andrews Students Association, Alternative Lay Representative of All Saints’ Church, St Andrews, and Serjeant-at-Arms of the St Andrews Union Debating Society.
Mr Grant will join the faculty in September 2018.
